Skin Aging

Skin aging is a phenomenon determined genetically and characterized by the gradual reduction of the skin's ability to respond satisfactorily to changes that occur over time.

The renewal of skin cells is one of the most important biological processes.

As we age, the epidermis loses its ability to retain moisture, resulting in the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, while in the deeper skin layers, collagen and elastin degenerate and decrease. Along with these, hyaluronic acid, which is essential for skin hydration, also decreases, as well as natural fats, thus creating sagging and wrinkles.

If these alterations appear quite early, around the age of 30, then we talk about premature aging or photoaging.

Factors that accelerate skin aging

  • Sun exposure
  • Lifestyle (smoking, poor diet, stress)
  • Hormonal changes (menopause)
